Giving Back While Stocking Up

Back-to-school shopping is one of our busiest seasons at JCPenney and at the top of most shopping lists are school uniforms. At JCPenney, we consider ourselves a uniform headquarters with polos, pants, shorts, skirts, sweaters and more from IZOD and Arizona. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, about 58 percent of schools now have a “strict dress code,” which means more and more families come to JCPenney every year for their school uniform needs.

Last weekend, select JCPenney stores partnered with local school districts across the country to offer private shopping events for families to stock up on IZOD elementary school uniforms in preparation for the new school year. JCPenney General Managers worked with their local school districts to create an after-hours shopping event with associates on hand to help parents and kids find the right uniform to meet the district’s requirements. As part of the shopping events, stores brought in live DJs, balloon animals, face painting, snacks and more to keep the kids entertained and the parents engaged.

“Our store had an absolute blast with this event,” said Assistant Merchandise Manager Tabitha Stadwick in Pembroke Pines, Fla. “We worked with our local library and mall to promote the shopping event and saw a significant lift in our uniform sales.”

In addition to a $10 off $50 coupon from JCPenney, all IZOD children’s school uniforms purchased during these events were eligible for a cash reward of 5% of the total purchase. Once parents present their original JCPenney receipt to their registered school, IZOD will make a 5% donation directly to the school to help fund student activities. There’s no better way to begin shopping for the new school year than when your purchases benefit local schools.
