This October, JCPenney invites its customers and associates to join us in the fight against breast cancer. For the fifth consecutive year, we have teamed up with the American Cancer Society, the nation’s largest nonprofit investor in cancer research, to raise funds and support survivors and those going through treatment with beauty and styling tips.
Every Dollar Counts
Since the inception of our partnership with the American Cancer Society in 2016, JCPenney has contributed over $1 million in support of patients, caregivers, and survivors as they navigate the challenging breast cancer journey. We are continuing that commitment this year, and the JCPenney Communities Foundation will match every gift – dollar for dollar – on every donation made through Oct. 31, 2020, up to $25,000.
Every dollar makes an impact, whether fueling breast cancer research or helping patients find the support they need. Throughout the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the American Cancer Society has been alongside patients and caregivers 24/7, listening to concerns and providing accurate, scientific information about COVID-19 and cancer.

Brave Beauty
In addition to financial support, JCPenney has been an honored host of Brave Beauty store events for the past several years, inviting breast cancer survivors into JCPenney salons to learn the latest beauty tips and creative styling ideas specific to their skin and hair needs. Due to the pandemic this year, we are making Brave Beauty available to all survivors and those undergoing treatment with the video below.
Survivors, patients and caregivers can learn from James Gable, JCPenney director of salon services and education, and members of the Salon by InStyle and Sephora inside JCPenney teams about the following topics:
- Tips and product suggestions for a healthy scalp and hair growth (2:00)
- Creative headscarf styling (6:00)
- Styling tips for thinning hair (12:20)
- Grooming perfect brows (23:00)
Thanks to the efforts of organizations like the American Cancer Society, funding for cancer research, improved screening methods for early detection, and better treatment options are helping to save the lives of countless breast cancer patients every day.
