Trend Talk: ‘Tis the Season for Holiday Parties

The holiday party season is upon us and JCPenney has festive looks to make every woman shine – and all at an amazing value. We sat down with JCPenney Style Director Geoffrey Henning to talk about the biggest trends we will see on the holiday party circuit and how every woman can incorporate these looks into her own wardrobe.

JCP: Geoffrey, thank you for talking with us today. As we speak, women everywhere are planning their outfits for company parties, cocktail soirees and New Year’s Eve. What are the biggest trends she should consider wearing to these events?
GH: Holiday moments are the perfect time to make an entrance and embrace a little glitz and glamour. It’s her moment, her time to sparkle. At JCPenney, we’ve identified five of the biggest trends that will make her the chicest woman at the party:
The Jumpsuit
Feathers & Faux Fur

With these trends, bright color isn’t the star here – rather, you’ll see lots of metals, black and ivory. Holiday parties are all about dressing up and feeling beautiful and confident. Details like fabric, texture and styling will ensure she stands out from the crowd.

JCP: Love it. Tell us more about each trend.
GH:  The sequin look is my absolute favorite for the season – it’s a total party moment. We have a finite sequin gold dress that creates a really high shine effect. It’s A-line, so it looks good on a variety of body types, and it has a French-inspired 60’s flair at the bottom. Pair it with a beret and booties for an uber-chic statement.

Black head-to-toe is sophisticated and stylish. We’ve taken a turtleneck to the next level by adding textural interest with lace sleeves. By the way, the turtleneck is huge this year, so make sure you add one to your wardrobe. Pair this with our skinny black satin pants with velvet flocking and finish it off with a feather earring. I love the incredible details in this look.

The jumpsuit is everything this holiday. Our sequin jumpsuit has a full leg with spaghetti straps and will catch everyone’s attention when you walk into the room. Pair it with a simple bootie, or a metallic heel, for a show-stopping statement that will be remembered.

We also have a perfect outfit for the super cool street-style girl. She’s a little more subtle, more urban. Add a colored bootie to our silver-coated skinny jean and a sweater with fur-trimmed sleeves and she becomes super modern.

And for that quirky cool girl, who mixes and matches styles and rocks everything she puts on, we love a sequin skirt paired with a chunky, cozy ivory turtleneck. The best element of the skirt is the front and back sequin detail that allows you personalize a pattern when wearing the skirt. Add aberet and fashion sneakers for an unexpectedly stylish, fun moment.

JCP: These are amazing looks. Where can women find these pieces inside JCPenney?

GH: These holiday trends are all part of our Love Now, Wear Now concept. Each look is displayed down the store’s main aisle, as if walking the runway, to provide inspiration and style tips to JCPenney shoppers. And customers can easily find the looks at

JCP: What advice do you have for women when shopping for party looks this holiday?
GH: Don’t be shy. Holiday parties are all about having fun and being noticed. Pick a look that makes you feel confident and rock it.
