JCPenney Earns Perfect Score in 2018 Corporate Equality Index

JCPenney was recently recognized as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality by achieving a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC). The 2018 CEI evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community.

“As a Company deeply rooted in treating others as we would like to be treated, we are proud to receive a 100 percent score on workplace equality by the Corporate Equality Index,” said Brynn Evanson, executive vice president of human resources at JCPenney. “This is our sixth distinction from the HRC, reaffirming our longstanding support of the LGBTQ community and our commitment to fostering a collaborative, inclusive and diverse work environment.”

JCPenney joins the ranks of 609 major U.S. businesses also earning top marks for workplace equality and inclusion this year.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve social, political and employment equality for all LGBTQ people.
