JCPenney Cozies Up with Ayesha Curry

JCPenney has partnered with domestic goddess Ayesha Curry once again, this time to launch a new bedding collection. Just in time for holiday shopping, the Ayesha Curry Home Collection is now available in approximately 250 stores and at JCPenney.com. Curry’s collection of bedding and decorative pillows, which includes two bedding patterns exclusive to JCPenney, complements her cookware and bakeware line that launched at JCPenney last fall. In fact, the Ayesha Curry Home Collection is exclusive to JCPenney brick-and-mortar stores through January, before it rolls out to other retailers.

We sat down with the popular chef and Food Network personality to learn more about the inspiration behind the launch of her bedding collection.

JCP: Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with us. You are busier than ever these days – especially with a beautiful new baby boy! Why did you decide to launch a bedding line?
AC: I have a passion for all things home-related and I wanted to create beautiful, plush bedding that was affordable. This is my first venture into bedding and I am so happy with the final product. JCPenney is the first department store to carry my new line and I am so excited to introduce this collection to their loyal customer base. I think we’re a perfect fit.

JCP: Did you design the bedding yourself? How would you describe the aesthetic?
AC: I was personally involved in the entire design process from choosing fabric and colors to approving the samples and the final product. It was very important to me to create a bedding collection that encourages a sense of calm. Your home should be tranquil and soothing.

The aesthetic of Ayesha Curry Home is relaxed, but luxe. I want everyone to feel comfortable in their own homes. My girls and I love to snuggle in bed with their new baby brother so comfort is key.

JCP: What was your design inspiration?
AC: My design inspiration was my own home. I wanted to create easy, versatile pieces that can fit into any room without a lot of fuss. For example, I love the chevron tiling in my house so I incorporated it into both a jacquard and quilting pattern. I also gravitate to textural linens in more neutral colors. You’ll notice most of the linens and pillows have textural elements.

JCP: What’s your favorite piece or pattern?
AC: Hands down, my favorite is the Livable Lux comforter set. It’s a beautiful chenille comforter, in dove gray, with a subtle chevron pattern. It’s pre-washed to give you that lived-in-softness and it just feels amazing.

JCP: You’ve created quite a home lifestyle brand with cookware and now bedding. Why are you so passionate about the home?
AC: Your home should be your safe haven, the place where you spend the best moments of your life with your family. Steph and I work really hard to create a beautiful, loving environment for our kids at home and I want to help others create this same feeling, without spending a fortune.
