JCPenney Hosts Free Workshops for Kids Every Month

As we continue to look for new ways to connect with our customers in stores and encourage repeat visits, JCPenney launched an all-new Kids Zone program last August with fun projects just for our youngest shoppers. Each month, kids, along with their parents, are invited to this festive (and FREE!) interactive workshop taking place in all JCPenney stores from 11 am to 12 pm, local time. Since inception, we have received positive customer response and increased participation as more parents become aware of this new program.

This Saturday, Dec. 16, kids can decorate a holiday ornament as part of the Kids Zone program. Other upcoming hands-on projects include making a Valentine’s Day card holder on Jan. 20, creating a mosaic bird house on Feb. 17 and decorating Easter eggs on March 10. The workshops take place near the kids department and advance sign up is not required.

Kids receive a collectible pin for every project they finish. And after each event, adults will receive a special 10 percent off coupon to use in-store on the day of the event. This coupon can be used in addition to current marketing promotions for maximum savings.

“By hosting educational, free activities like the Kids Zone program, we are giving back to the loyal families who shop with us,” said Joe McFarland, executive vice-president for stores at JCPenney. “Our store teams have really embraced these community events and have used them as an opportunity to build on-going relationships with their customers. In-store experiences, such as our Kids Zone workshops, also reinforce the importance of brick-and-mortar stores to differentiate JCPenney from pure e-commerce competitors.”
