JCPenney Celebrates Earth Day with Give Back Box Partnership

During these tumultuous times, many of us are looking for ways to support our communities – the trick is finding a way to do it from home while we shelter in place. That’s where JCPenney and the nonprofit Give Back Box can help. To celebrate Earth Day this year, JCPenney has partnered with Give Back Box, an organization dedicated to providing an effortless and convenient way to donate your gently-used items – including clothing, shoes, toys, and jewelry – all while caring for our planet.

The partnership begins today, April 22, the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. It’s easy and free to participate and you can donate your unwanted items while helping others in three easy steps:

  1. Sort: Use the box from your latest JCPenney purchase – or any box – and fill it with gently used clothes and household items you no longer need.
  2. Ship: Print your free Give Back Box shipping label here and drop off your box at your local UPS or USPS location.
  3. Share: Inspire others to give back to those in need by sharing your pics on social media with #JCPGiveBack.

Donations will be sent to local charities and once your package is received, the box is guaranteed to be recycled. Then, your items will be sold to support community programs focused on job training and education – ensuring your donation has far-reaching impacts on both your neighbors and the planet.

Give Back Box provides an all-around corporate social responsibility and sustainability solution, and JCPenney is pleased to support its mission as we also continue to take steps toward sustainability: this year marks the 14th consecutive year JCPenney has earned the Energy Star Partner of the Year Award, highlighting our commitment to energy efficiency.
